Winterbourne Downs is a RSPB managed reserve, with chalk grassland and meadow where stone-curlew, skylarks, lapwings, yellowhammers, linnets and grey partridges may be seen, as well as various butterfly species.
As well as the birds and butterflies, you may also see some of the local mammal wildlife, such as roe deer and brown hares.
RSPB Winterbourne Downs is a working farm, and so grazing livestock may be present in the fields.
