Within West Swindon, Peatmoor Lagoon is a family friendly place with a looping trail that takes you around the edge of the water and through a small woodland section.
Popular with anglers, the lake supports a healthy ecosystem, supporting fish and many bird species such as swans, great crested grebes and ducks. You may also see the blue flash of a kingfisher as it quickly darts low across the water.
The path around the water is smooth tarmac and is easy to get around for those with buggies or those in wheelchairs. The woodland section is a bit rough and bumpy and some might struggle with the terrain.
As the lagoon is next to a small local shopping area, there is plenty of free parking, with shops and a pub for those who want to buy food or refreshments.
Shaw Forest Park is only a 5-10 minute walk away from the lagoon and can be reached by walking through the underpass to the east of the lake and then following the gravel path which takes you into the park.
