Formally arable farmland, RSPB Greylake is now managed by the RSPB and has been turned into a wetland habitat which is home to many bird species.
There is a good chance of seeing lapwing, redshank, snipe, kingfishers, various different ducks and geese, and very often the birds of prey which hunt them, such as marsh harriers, peregrine falcons and buzzards. If you are exceptionally lucky, you may also seen cranes.
The site is very flat, with excellent access for visitors in wheelchairs, with well laid paths, and bird hides which are also easily accessible, with low windows, and gentle slopes leading to them. They are also only a short walk from the car park.
There is also the Reedloop Trail and screen deeper into the reserve, but these are grass paths and while someone with reduced mobility should still be able to traverse, this trail is not wheelchair accessible.
