With views north over the seaside town of Weston-super-mare, west across the Bristol Channel to Wales, south to Bridgewater Bay, and east across the Somerset Levels, Brean Down is a perfect vantage point to survey some of the best that the south west has to offer.
Whether you are looking for a walk on the beach (though expect mud more than sand) or across high coastal hills, Brean Down is an excellent place to visit. At 97m high, the top of the down has a pleasant walking loop through the hilltop grasslands and wind shaped trees. At the end of the headland there is also the Palmerston Fort which can be walked around.
On the hills you may see the free roaming goats which reside here.
Due to the steep hill sides, you should keep to the marked paths, and dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
Due to the hilly terrain some visitors may find it difficult to access the top of the down.
When on the beach at low tide, caution is advised as the mud flats can be hazardous.
