Having marshes, wetland, rivers, a canal that it borders, and being right on the edge of the River Exe where it becomes the Exe Estuary, RSPB Exminster and Powderham Marshes is an excellent location to view wetland birds all year round.
There are two main walking routes that can be taken. A 1.25km walk from the car park will take you along the meadows and to the wetland area, where there are screens which let you see across the reed beds. This is mostly flat and level hard packed gravel which is easy to traverse.
For those looking for a longer walk, there is a 3.75km walk around the edge of the reserve, and takes you alongside the canal, with options of staying on the inland side of the canal, or on the riverside. This route does require crossing a grazed field, and may not be suitable for people with reduced mobility.
From Wednesday to Sunday there is a refreshments van situated in the car park.
