Snelsmore Common

A mix of wood and heathland, Snelsmore Common is an important location for rare species such as nightjar and woodlark, and reptiles including adders, grass snake, lizards and slow-worm.

Bowdown Woods

Covering the gap between the heath of Greenham Common and the river Kennet, this hillside woodland is made of three sections, including an ancient wooded area, and a former military ammunition store.

Privately owned but managed by the BBOWT and open to the public, Bucklebury Common is a large heath and woodland between Newbury and Reading which is perfect for walking, cycling and horse riding.

Moor Copse

Just outside Reading, set on the river Pang in Berkshire, this flood plain woodland is a haven for flora, fauna and fungi that like we damper conditions. As well as the woods, there are also some meadows to visit.
