South East

The south east of England has some of the most famous and iconic locations in Britain, including the snaking river Thames, the beautiful Chiltern hills, the vast stony landscape at Dungeness and the world famous white cliffs of Dover. Even inside the metropolitan London, there are plenty of large parks to escape the urban surroundings.

Berkshire

Berkshire is home to various important habitats, including the river Thames which passes through it, the Kennet and Avon canal waterway, woodlands and heaths, including the former air base, Greenham Common, which is being returned to nature.

Hampshire

Most well known as the home of The New Forest, Hampshire is a county full of locations where you can get closer to nature. As well as the many large forests, there are also many important heaths, grasslands and rivers which provide vital habitats for all sorts of flora and fauna.

Oxfordshire

With the River Thames meandering deep in the county, Oxfordshire is a great place to see river wildlife, often only a short walk from towns. The county also covers parts of three different areas of outstanding natural beauty and contains part of the Ridgeway trial, making it a great destination for walkers.
